1. Practical and More Efficient Footprints:
In 2024, we’re predicting a large push away from large, open floorplans with expansive great rooms, and an emphasis more toward practical and efficient pockets of space. What does this mean? We might see kitchens incorporating more compact workspace, focusing on the beloved “work triangle” for efficiency. But large gathering islands and kitchens blended into living room spaces may lose their appeal, while hidden butler’s pantries and breakfast nooks might become the priorities within kitchens in new home builds. Only time will tell...we will keep you posted with what our clients end up choosing!
2. Basements and Bonus Rooms:
We’re already seeing an increase in the desire for bonus spaces or basements – or really, any sort of flexible space! We don’t see this trend stopping any time soon, either. Homeowners are wanting functional but beautiful basements that are an extension of their homes and utilized every day, instead of every once-in-a-while. Bonus spaces above garages, or accessory spaces, like a mother-in-law suite, are also taking precedence in the eyes of homeowners in 2024.
3. Handmade features:
Modern and sleek won’t be the frontrunner in 2024’s new homes. Instead, classic, traditional, and timeless design will be the common choice amongst homeowners nationwide, as well as here in Licking County! We’ll see an incorporation of more handmade features and unique centerpieces within each home – think custom built-ins or grand fireplaces – adding a much more personalized touch in new home builds or the amazing staircase wall design we added to our client's home right here in Granville.
